
Bottle Gourd With Channa Dal
Bottle gourd with Channa dal curry
1 big bowl Bottle gourd ( cut into small pieces)
25 gms. Channa dal ( soak atleast for one hour in water)
2-3. Tomatoes ( cut into small pieces)
5-6. Green chillies
2-3. Red chillies
1 tbsp. urad dal
1 tsp. Jeera
1 tsp. Mustard seeds
1 pinch. Turmeric
Salt To taste
Hing
Coriander leaves
Curry leaves
Method
Take a pressure pan, add the urad dal, mustard, jeera, red chilli, green chillies, hing,curry leaves . Sauté for 5 minutes. Add tomatoes , sauté for few minutes add Channa dal, bottle gourd pieces, sauté for few minutes, add salt, turmeric and add about 100 – 200 ml water , and cook for 2 whistles .
Remove the lid and check if any water remains; cook until the water evaporatesand add finely cut coriander leaves.
This curry can be eaten with rotis or rice. Tastes really good.
Variation:
Masala powder can be added for flavour, if required.
